Vacation Bible School

August 6-10, 2007

Vacation Bible School was a huge success this year. We had 145 children pre-registered with 113 of them attending at least once. We had an average of 95 in Bible School with a high of 106. There were at least 65 children who attended for the first time. We also had many who made decisions for the Lord. But the most important number was that we had at least 7 that received Jesus as their Saviour.

There were 27 different business that had donated food, materials, supplies, gift certificates and toys that totaled approximately $3,400.00. The Army National Guard, The Air National Guard, Domino’s Pizza, Rita’s Water Ice, Hammonton Karate, Checker’s, Wendy’s and McDonald’s were among the businesses that had contributed. Monday we had pizza for everyone in Bible School and Friday we had water ice for everyone. One lucky child won a month of karate lessons worth approximately $190.00. We greatly appreciate everyone who donated to VBS this year.

Our theme this year was “Soldiers of the Faith – Putting on the whole armour of God”.

Our theme verse was Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Lessons were taught on each piece of armour stated in Ephesians 6:11-18

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Joshua & Caleb, Israel at Jericho, Gideon, the Roman Centurion and David were the passages taught to show each of the armour of God.
